The Challenge
Advent Revolution has been such a meaningful experience for us that we wanted to invite others to join us. This is not a Methodist, Baptist, Anglican or Pentecostal project. It is simply a Jesus project. If you would like to know more about how to join the Revolution keep reading. Forward this site to your friends at other churches as well. Let’s make a difference this Christmas. After all, Christmas was meant to change the world.
Joining the Revolution
There are several ways for you to start a Revolution in your church this Christmas:
- Check out Advent Conspiracy. Advent Revolution is just one part of this larger movement. On their website you’ll find all kinds of ideas and resources to change the world this Christmas.
- Contact World Help and tell them you’d like to be a part of Advent Revolution. There are all kinds of great ministries for you to work with, but World Help is the name of the mission agency that we partnered with to build our eight homes in Rwanda. They can help you make specific decisions about your goals. Here are several opportunities:
- Approximately $25,000 will build a Home of Hope for 12 orphans.
- Approximately $100,000 will build a Village of Hope for 48 orphans.
- Approximately $16,000 is needed to complete a dormitory at Star School to house 200 boys.
- Approximately $28,000 is needed to complete a dormitory at Star School to house 220 girls.
- $5,000-$15,000 will build a well to provide clean drinking water to a village.
- Bibles can be provided to a needy or persecuted believer for $5 each.
- We realize many churches may not be able to fund a complete project. For churches that raise less than the cost of a full project, you will be partnered with others churches to complete a project.
- If you want to work through World Help send contributions directly to World Help, not First United Methodist in Thomasville.
- Give of yourself this Christmas. This year we’re setting up a Christmas Party for the 1500 people that normally visit our food bank during the month of December. We plan on surprising them with the love of Christ by loving on them, listening to their stories, and providing them with some simple Christmas gifts. There are all kinds of needs in your community as well. Look for ways to give presence, not just presents.

Why World Help?
There many great denominational and parachurch ministries you can work through to impact the world around you this Christmas. We chose to work with World Help for the following reasons:
- World Help gave us a specific and tangible result to our contributions. We knew that $25,000 would build four homes for 12 children.
- World Help has helped us develop relationships with the people of Africa through facilitating sponsoring relationships with the children in the homes and coordinating mission trips for our church members to minister directly to the people in Africa.
- WorldHelp’s mission resonated with us
- WorldHelp is a ministry of integrity. It is accredited by the ECLA and received a ministrywatch.com five star rating.
