The world-wide AIDS epidemic had hit the children of Africa with brutal force. Eleven million children in the region have been orphaned after their parents died of AIDS. Include the other children whose parents have died through starvation, regional violence other diseases, and that number increases to a staggering 34 million orphans – higher than any other region in the world. UNICEF forecasts these numbers to increase to 40 million parentless children by the year 2010!
These are not just statistics. Each one of these numbers represents real children with real life stories and real names like Jacob and Bindi. God knows each of these children and loves them dearly. Now is the time for the people of God to act. Your church can make a real difference in the lives of a few children. Together we can share the love of Jesus Christ with many children whose lives will be forever changed as they experience the practical love of God through his people.
